Stakeholders need to work with Government to ensure measures are put in place to protect Fiji’s coastlines from the impact of climate change.
These were the words of the project director for Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) Jan Steffen while speaking at the Climate Change Adaptation Seminar at Sofitel Fiji Resort & Spa on Denarau Island yesterday.
The seminar, organised by the University of Fiji (UoF), had close to 20 participants from the university, Government and other stakeholders where they presented their studies in the field of marine coastal, resource mapping, climate change impact and adaptation strategies.
Mr Steffen said for over the past seven to eight years he had worked with various stakeholders within the Pacific and had seen people were more preservative of their coastlines.
