The risk of reduced access to drinking water and food in the Pacific Islands poses a threat to indigenous and isolated rural communities, especially women and children, warned a Caritas Aotearoa report released today here.
Recent spates of extreme weather combined with the ongoing effects of climate change in countries including Fiji, Vanuatu, Tonga and Papua New Guinea have led to a severe loss of food and drinking water in the region, according to Caritas Aotearoa's annual State of the Environment report for Oceania.
