THE World Bank says Fiji will spend close to $700 million by 2040 on climate change adaptation projects for the protection of coastline communities.
The figures were included in a new World Bank Report which considers economic costs of adaptation and proposes priority investments and policies for Pacific countries until the year 2040.
The report titled "Pacific Possible: Climate and Disaster Resilience report" estimates Fiji's climate change adaptation expenditure in 2040 will be more than $683m.
