As the UN process to find a global framework for action on climate change tries desperately to kick itself into life for another year over in Warsaw, heralded with darkly beautiful timing by the latest in the ever more frequent series of extreme weather events that will only wreck civilisation more often in the years to come, it is time for a fresh round of inquiry into why nothing (or at least nothing commensurate with the scale of the problem) has been done, and why we continue to run still further off the edge of a very high cliff.
