New survey finds hundreds of new fish and bird species in Nauru

24 OCTOBER 2013

A survey of marine and land animals on Nauru has discovered a number of new recorded species for the island. The rapid biological assessment survey found 280 new records of coral reef fish, previously unrecorded birds and a species of skink which may be new to science. SPREP carried out the survey. Bruce Jeffries says the survey was aimed at getting a fuller picture of biodiversity in Nauru.
