SUVA, Fiji (Fiji Times, July 11, 2013) – Fiji Prime Minister Commodore Voreqe Bainimarama has called on industrialized countries to take responsibility for extreme weather events in the Pacific, including rising sea levels which is causing a whole nation to slowly sink below the waves.
He said destructive and frequent hurricanes that gravely affected island countries were one of the consequences of the activities of the industrialized world and therefore "they should shoulder more of the cost."
