Public school children in Kiribati are receiving a new book entitled “The Children Take Action- A Climate Change Story.” Developed by the Secretariat of the Pacific Regional Environment Programme (SPREP), and printed with help from the Australian International Climate Change Adaptation Initiative, over 6000 copies of the book in English and Kiribati were distributed in April.
“The Children Take Action” gives basic facts about climate change through the story of a young boy learning about the issue from his grandfather. It is designed to accompany a new syllabus in Kiribati classrooms that focuses on elements of climate change, the environment, and sustainable development.
