Abstract:
Across the globe, practitioners and policy makers are increasingly recognising the importance of bringing together disaster risk reduction (DRR) and climate change adaptation (CCA). But how can you create the right environment for mainstreaming to flourish.
Written primarily for those working in the field of DRR (including policy makers, practitioners, programme staff and management), but with relevance to those working in other operational environments, this report draws on the experience of more than 100 disaster risk managers from Africa and Asia.to address current gaps in knowledge and provide, action-oriented advice on the practicalities of mainstreaming climate change adaptation into DRR work.
From action points for establishing champions through to tips on engaging with senior management teams, this report offers useful insights on the expertise, capacities and tactics needed to achieve mainstreaming of CCA into DRR policies and programmes.
