Industrialised countries are dragging their feet in cutting the emissions of carbon dioxide that are the main cause of global warming. Rapidly developing nations, like China and India, are increasing theirs. Both blocs blame the other for accelerating climate change, and make it clear that they are waiting for it to change its approach before making a move of their own. But now a totally unexpected group – the Least Developed Countries (LDCs) – is indicating that is “ready to go first”.
