The first Climate Change Co-ordination Committee meeting was held at the Holiday Inn Suva on Wednesday to exchange innovative ideas in the implementation of climate change activities in Fiji.
Permanent secretaries and senior government officials make up the members of the committee.
Permanent Secretary for Foreign Affairs Amena Yauvoli, under whose portfolio the Climate Change Unit falls, said the meeting was a national co-ordination effort to combine all resources and initiatives as well as synergies of various ministries and departments.
Mr Yauvoli said they were very fortunate that their first meeting had been graced by the presence of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change executive secretary, Christiana Figueres.
