Indicators of progress: Guidance on measuring the reduction of disaster risks and the implementation of the Hyogo Framework for Action

Abstract:

The main objective of the guide is to provide key principles and basic information to consider when identifying and applying relevant indicators to implement the Hyogo Framework’s priority actions, and assess overall progress. The document aims to support the development of a managerial, indicator-based approach to the design and implementation of disaster risk reduction activities, as a means to improve the effectiveness of policies and activities, and to provide guidance to national authorities to help them develop indicators tailored to their needs. The intended audiences for this guide are primarily the national authorities and officials who have responsibilities for implementing disaster risk reduction activities and for monitoring and reporting on progress.
