Guam will carry a greater burden as the exodus of immigrants from the Federated States of Micronesia, Palau and Marshall Islands is expected to worsen, Guam officials said at a meeting in Washington, D.C., earlier today.
When U.S. financial assistance to the island nations begins to slow, or even dry up in the coming years, and as climate changes forces residents out of the remote island nations, more of the regional immigrants are expected to relocate to Guam, Gov. Eddie Calvo said.
