TIMES: Fiji has been allocated funding worth $US350million ($F710m) by the ADB for various infrastructure and development projects over the span of 4-5 years. Now that ADB has combined its lending operations, is there a possibility of funding increasing during the 4-5-year period after this period?
YAO: Certainly. Currently we have this $US350m for the initial 4-5 years. With works continuing and further co-operation with Fiji, clearly there is a need for more financing. We will consult with the Government to further discuss the options for financing for Fiji. This is a larger scale of ADF-OCR combination, it does present a good opportunities. ADB president Takehiko Nakao has emphasised in his opening statement, this combination will provide great opportunity for the bank to support small economies including the Pacific.
