Abstract:
Education can play an active role on mitigation and adaptation to climate change to bolster people's ability and stimulate the next generation to demand, generate, interpret and apply information on current and future climate and the perspective consequences. Crucially, there has been little progress\ in mainstreaming climate change within existing education policy frameworks, strategies and particularly improving the education sector capacities to generate such information for effective integration in relevant programmes.
The purpose of the appraisal mission was to assess the potential for integrating climate change into different education institutions through a `Climate Change and Education` component of the current SPC/GIZ regional programme.
