The PCCP Topics Controlled Vocabulary is a 2-level controlled vocabulary, developed specifically for use with the Pacific Climate Change Portal (www.pacificclimatechange.net). Within the Portal, it is used to classify resources (documents, projects, news, events etc) according to theme or subject area. The vocabulary attempts to cover all themes and subjects relevant to climate change and disaster risk management in the Pacific, and to use standard terms, in common use by climate change and DRM practitioners, to describe these themes.
Version 3.0 of the Vocabulary also contains a definition for each term, to assist users to understand and assign terms accurately. Definition sources are included.
The vocabulary was created as part of the Griffith University/SPREP Pacific iClim Project, and with the assistance of and input from members of the Pacific Climate Change Portal Advisory Committee. The Project has been funded by the Australian Government Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade initiative Government Partnerships for Development Program to support SPREP in implementing a regional approach to climate change data and information management throughout the Pacific.
