Understanding Climate Change, what it is, and what we can do about it!

10 AUGUST 2021

How well do you understand climate change, and what do you think we can do to solve the issues facing the Pacific as a result of climate change impacts?

The Secretariat of the Pacific Regional Programme (SPREP)’s fifth quiz of the 2021 quiz series is using a fun learning tool to both inform and understand how much Pacific audiences, and those around the world, know about the greatest threat facing our Pacific region and the world.

The purpose of this quiz series is support children and adults alike through a virtual, fun, and interactive way to learn and test their knowledge about the Pacific environment. This is the first quiz to feature questions solely on climate change causes, impacts, solutions, and more. And the responses will help SPREP better understand the general awareness of climate change by participants through assessing answers to 10 simple questions.

“We believe climate change is an issue that concerns every member of our community. From adults to very young children. Raising awareness of climate change impacts can help us better adapt and find solutions to lesson or mitigate the impacts we are feeling now in our Pacific islands,” said Ms Nanette Woonton, Acting Communications Adviser at SPREP.

“We understand the science behind climate change very well in the Pacific because a lot of our islands’ traditional knowledge has helped warn and inform us. Understanding the science behind it and utilizing new technologies, policy reform, individual and collective actions to help mitigate impacts is what SPREP stands for as the Pacific region’s leading environmental organisation.”

SPREP challenges you to put your knowledge to the test and find out how well you understand climate change issues, the problem and the solution, by participating in the Pacific Climate Change Quiz. This fun and educational way to learn more about the environmental challenges we are facing can also challenge your friends and family to see how well they understand climate change – so make sure to share this quiz and help all of us in our quest to being better prepared through knowledge and innovation for solutions.
