THE US Government is committed to mitigating climate change by reducing its carbon emissions by 80 per cent by the year 2025.
While speaking at an event in Lautoka this week, US ambassador to Fiji, Kiribati, Nauru, Tonga and Tuvalu, Judith Beth Cefkin said the country made a formal submission to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change for their 2025 climate target. Ms Cefkin said the target was to reduce America's net greenhouse gas emissions to between 26 and 28 per cent below 2005 levels by 2025. "We believe this goal is both ambitious and achievable," she said.
