12 MARCH 2025
Samoa’s Minister of Finance, Honourable Lautimuia Afoa Uelese Vaai officially opened the Pacific Climate Change Centre’s (PCCC) Partners Dialogue on Long Term Sustainability Plan for Building a Climate Resilient Pacific this morning.
The PCCC, hosted at the Secretariat of the Pacific Regional Environment Programme (SPREP) at Vailima Samoa, plays a critical role in helping Pacific countries address the impacts of climate change, which our Pacific leaders have continuously identified as the greatest existential threat to our communities.
The two-day PCCC Partner’s Dialogue on Long Term Sustainability Plan for Building a Climate Resilient Pacific is a crucial mechanism to report on areas of progress, flag gaps, challenges, and opportunities, as SPREP through the PCCC, and Pacific countries work to build a more resilient Pacific environment.
Other speakers during the opening session included Mr Sefanaia Nawadra, Director General of SPREP, Mr Kazuo Tsukasa, Chargé d'Affaires Embassy of Japan in Samoa, His Excellency Will Robinson, Australian High Commissioner to Samoa and Her Excellency Si'alei van Toor, New Zealand High Commissioner to Samoa.
