The super typhoon Haiyan that hit the Philippines last week, attaining wind speeds of up to 315 kilometres per hour and leaving thousands dead or homeless in its wake, is a stark reminder of what is at stake at the 19th UN Conference of Parties taking place in Warsaw, Poland (11-22 November).
