Prime Minister Receives New Kiribati President

The Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama yesterday received a courtesy call from the new President of the Republic of Kiribati Te Beretitenti Taneti Maamau.

The meeting was an opportunity for the Prime Minister to personally congratulate Mr Maamau on his appointment as Kiribati’s new President since he took up office earlier this year.

It was also an opportunity for him to extend appreciation, on behalf of every Fijian, Kiribati’s assistance of US$50,000 (FJ$104,494.85) to go towards recovery efforts following Cyclone Winston.
