The Palau Community College signed in March a memorandum of understanding with the University of Ryukyus for a collaborative research project between the schools called “The Project for Sustainable Management of Coral Reef and Island Ecosystems: Responding to the Threats of Climate Change.”
According to the memorandum, the project will research the effects of climate change on the environment of Palau. Because Okinawa and Palau share similar environments, the study will assist both nations in better understanding the risks that may come with the ever-changing state of nature. The research project will span over a five-year period and began in April of 2013.
