MAJURO — A major regional environment meeting happening here this week and next is focused on addressing funding for climate adaptation and mitigation, coordinating climate and disaster preparedness programs that — up to now — have been run by separate agencies in the Pacific, training government leaders for high-level climate negotiations taking place at the global level, and sharing waste management experiences in the region.
The Secretariat of the Pacific Regional Environmental Program or SPREP annual gathering in Majuro is acting on decisions taken at last month’s Small Island Developing States or SIDS summit in Samoa.
