Marshall Islands government under pressure to cut links with Arctic oil giants

The Marshall Islands cabinet meets later this week, and environmental activists are hoping the President will make a decision on their request to de-register two oil rigs operating under the Marshalls' flag in the Arctic.

Greenpeace has written directly to President Christopher Loeak, warning him that oil companies are seeking to take advantage of melting polar ice to find more oil, a move which the environmentalists say will do nothing to mitigate the effects of climate change.
