Major changes to tsunami warnings issued by the Pacific Tsunami Warning Centre in Honolulu

Pacific countries should expect major changes to tsunami warnings issued from the Pacific Tsunami Warning Centre (PTWC), as early as the first quarter of next year.

The changes follow concerns raised by some developed countries in the Asia-Pacific region, who are not satisfied with the level of warnings issued by the Honolulu based tsunami centre during the major natural disasters in Samoa (2009), Chile (2010) and Japan (2011).
