OCEANS are a big part of our lives. As a small island country, we are again reminded that we are vulnerable to the adverse effect of climate change. ".. It is going to be exacerbated and we will not have sustainable development as a result..."
Such strong words of caution from PNG's permanent representative to the UN and chair of the PSIDS, Ambassador Robert Aisi (F/T 16/7/2013), add emotion to our regional position on climate change. Regional leaders of the Pacific Small Islands Developing States who met in Nadi this month will now present our collective concerns at a similar but wider platform of island leaders in Barbados next month.
