Yearly, the cost of fuel to run Fiji’s economy gets steeper and there have been some serious efforts lately to explore renewable energy sources to complement national power production. Last month, just days after the Pacific Energy Summit in New Zealand, Fiji’s Department of Energy and its central bank held a public discussion forum to discuss this critical service, revealing the urgency to review the country’s National Energy Policy adopted, and with measured success implemented, in 2006.
