Government has announced that the Environment and Climate Adaptation Levy has generated a total of $110.6 million as at 30th April, 2018, exceeding the estimated amount of $94 million.
Attorney General, Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum while delivering the 2017/2018 national budget last June said that government would remove the Environmental Levy, and replace it with the Environment and Climate Adaptation Levy at 10%.
A total of 46 projects have been funded by the Environment and Climate Adaptation Levy with the most funds of $63.77 million directed at Infrastructure development.
The Infrastructure Development projects include the upgrading of rural roads, jetties maintenance and renewals and the upgrading and replacement of bridges.
