SPREP was invited to participate in the 9thresearch dialogue during the international Climate Change Meeting in Bonn, Germany.
Work undertaken on mapping and understanding traditional knowledge for climate and weather prediction had been developed into a poster by SPREP staff Siosinamele Lui and was presented by Espen Ronneberg.
The poster session was organised around this year’s dialogue themes. These were a) Regional climate research data and information, and gaps, and b) Science to take stock and assess progress on mitigation. The research dialogue provides the forum to enhance communication between Parties and the research community. It enables the scientific community to convey new scientific findings and their ongoing activities, and it enables Parties to identify research needs and priorities.
There was a lot of interest in the SPREP poster, which will be on display in the main lobby for the duration of the meeting. Delegates asked questions and sought clarifications. In addition, the key recommendations from the poster were captured in the summary of the overall research dialogue.
