Finding money to finance the emission reduction efforts of the developing world will be the key agenda before the 195 countries that are part of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), as they meet in Warsaw, Poland on Monday (November 11).
The 10-day meeting, officially known as the 19th Conference of Parties (COP-19), comes in the backdrop of disturbing revelations on the climate change front. The amount of greenhouse gases (which triggers climate change) in the atmosphere had touched a record high in 2012, continuing an upward and accelerating trend. Further, there were reports pointing out the widening gap between the emission reduction pledges made by individual countries and the actual requirement to minimise the threat of human-generated climate change.
