Research has demonstrated that the world’s coral reefs are suffering greatly due to climate change, but a new study suggests that some coral may be more resilient than scientists expected — and these ecosystems may even have the ability to bounce back.

According to recent data, over 75 percent of coral reefs are currently in danger due to a range of factors including climate change. Indeed, the situation is so bad that several studies have predicted a complete die-off of most of the world’s coral by 2100. In fact, we’re already seeing signs of this damage, with coral bleaching hitting new highs and species loss becoming a major concern.
