SPC and the Pacific Plan – July 2009 – June 2010 (Volume 2):Achievements, challenges and targets

Abstract:
The Pacific Plan was endorsed by leaders at the 2005 Pacific Islands Forum meeting in Papua New Guinea. The Kalibobo Road Map Statement issued by the meeting outlined the Plan, its priorities and implementation requirements. The goals of the Pacific Plan are to enhance and stimulate economic growth, sustainable development, good governance and security for Pacific countries through regionalism. These goals almost mirror SPC‘s own corporate goals. Hence, SPC has been fully committed to their realisation from the beginning. As one of the region‘s longest established organizations and as a bilingual organisation with a much broader membership than the Forum, SPC has had an added interest – that of enabling SPC‘s non-Forum members to share in the development of this regional initiative.
