Abstract:
The guide aims to inform practitioners and policy makers of the linkages between gender equality and climate change, and their importance in relation to the achievement of the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs). It makes the case for including women's voices, needs and expertise in climate change policy and programming, and demonstrates how women's contributions can strengthen the effectiveness of climate change measures.
The guide reviews the extent to which existing international agreements recognize the gender-climate change link. It aims to inform the climate decision-making process towards a new global agreement on climate change, providing evidence on the importance of equally representing women's efforts and their perspectives in the climate debate.
