Land and Human Mobility in The Pacific: The Effects of Natural Disasters - Discussion paper

This report builds on the Nansen Initiative Pacific Regional Consultation on €œHuman Mobility, Natural Disasters and Climate Change in the Pacific€. It focuses on land and natural disasters in the Pacific. There are three basic categories of landownership in the Pacific region: customary land, state land and freehold land. In most Pacific States customary land represents more than 80% of the total land area. Even though most land is customary land, there are high rates of migration to informal urban settlements in parts of the Pacific.
